Drag Race All Stars 5 will stream on Netflix in the UK and Ireland, the streaming service has confirmed, putting an end to the era of dodging spoilers and scouring the internet for dodgy links.

For the first time in Drag Race herstory, UK Netflix subscribers will be able to watch All Stars at the same time as American fans.

Netflix confirmed it will air the season from June, with new episodes presumably coming the morning after they air in the US.

There, Drag Race All Stars 5 starts June 5.

Netflix was unable to confirm an exact release date, but it has followed a next-day pattern with the current season 12 and Celebrity Drag Race.

Previous All Stars series have been broadcast on Comedy Central in the UK, with All Stars 4 the only season currently available to stream on the service.

Drag Race All Stars 5 promises major format change.

RuPaul has promised “the biggest shake-up in herstory” for the new season, with All Stars rules “suspended forever”.

A trailer hints the twist will involve special guests, but what exactly they’ll be doing it being kept tightly tucked away.

What we do know is that 10 queens will be returning to the werk room to compete for a spot in the Drag Race Hall of Fame.

The All Stars 5 cast is a mix of the show’s early seasons and it’s more recent incarnations, with two queens returning from the much-maligned All Stars 1.

Ongina and Jujubee will represent seasons one and two, with Alexis Mateo, India Ferrah and Mariah Balenciaga adding some season three flavour.

Derrick Barry returns from season eight, competing against season nine finalist Shea Couleé and three season 10 queens: Blair St Clair, Mayhem Miller and Miz Cracker.

All Stars 5 comes hot on the tail of season 12 finale.

The queens will enter the werk room a week after RuPaul crowns the season 12 winner in a virtual lip-sync for the crown finale between Gigi Goode, Jaida Essence Hall and Crystal Methyd.

Producers are leaning on “innovative technology that highlights the creativity of the queens” to complete the season, after coronavirus put paid to plans for the traditional theatre-based grand finale.

Season 11 winner Yvie Oddly will crown America’s Next Drag Superstar (virtually), with Nina West, last year’s Miss Congeniality, on hand to announce her successor.

This Friday (May 22), the queens will come together for a digital “slumber party reunion”, where they’ll discuss the season’s biggest moments and what life has been like under lockdown.
