Miley Cyrus admits she has ‘no idea’ what the coronavirus pandemic is actually like due to her celebrity privilege

Miley Cyrus spoke candidly about how she knows that she has no real idea just how devastating the coronavirus pandemic is due to her celebrity privilege.
The 27-year-old singer, who came out as pansexual in 2015 and as gender-neutral in 2017, told the Wall Street Journal she’s aware of her “unique position” in the crisis.
Cyrus discussed her Instagram Live show, Bright Minded, which she began shooting from her home as the pandemic rampaged the globe. She admitted that celebrities were often hesitant to appear on it, being aware of their own “unique” positions.

“I’m sure some people I was reaching out to [for Bright Minded] felt the same way I do,” she said.
“Which is that my experience is so rare, it almost doesn’t feel right to talk about.
“This isn’t COVID-19, what I’m experiencing.
She added: “I know I’m in a unique position, and my experience with this pandemic is not like most everyone else’s in my country and around the world.”
Cyrus described that though thing in her life and career have wobbled or shifted around, she knows it’s nothing compared to how other people have suffered or had their livelihoods upended.
“My life has been pushed pause on,” she said, “but really I have no idea what this pandemic is like.
“I am comfortable in my space and able to put food on my table and [I am] financially stable, and that’s just not the story for a lot of people.”
Singer hopes to take her Instagram talkshow to the television screen one day.
Cyrus’ talkshow often saw the “Wrecking Ball” hitmaker in Gucci sweats, wearing dishwashing gloves, occasionally adjusting her craggy, unkempt hair as she chatted with the likes of Reese Witherspoon, Amy Schumer and Selena Gomez.
She said: “It’s been important for me to be wearing what everyone else is wearing at home.
“I’m in my sweatpants and a topknot, just like everyone else.”
She jokingly added: “I’ve only washed my hair twice for the show, once for Elton John and once for [Massachusetts] senator [Elizabeth] Warren.”
While self-isolating in her Los Angeles home with her boyfriend, Australian singer Cody Simpson, Bright Minded has acted as a creative outlet for Cyrus, adapting from a life of tour buses and TV show gigs to Zoom interviews and Instagram Live sessions.
She hinted that she could one day see herself taking her platform from social media to actual television screens.
“I also love entertainment and encouraging people to celebrate their uniqueness,” Cyrus beamed.
“A lot of what I’ve represented in my entire career is individuality and gender identity and sexual identity.
“I would love to create a platform where individuality is highlighted and a place for good news and light and activism and optimism and highlighting the folks doing really big work who don’t always get the attention that is deserved.”
