UPDATE (May 26): Grimes and Elon Musk have changed the spelling of their baby’s name, reportedly to comply with Californian regulations.
Grimes and Elon Musk have shared the first photo of their baby, X Æ A-12 Musk, who the singer has said will be allowed to determine their own gender.
Elon Musk announced Grimes had given birth to a baby in the early hours of Tuesday morning (May 5).
The baby is Grimes’ first, while Musk has six children with his first wife.
The tech billionaire shared the first picture of the child, having added a tattoo filter to their face.

Grimes and Elon Musk baby name meaning figured out by internet.
Grimes and Elon Musk’s baby will – according to the Tesla founder – go by the name X Æ A-12 Musk.
The singer confirmed in February that they had decided on a baby name, but said at the time that she wouldn’t be announcing it “because everyone I’ve told it hates it, and everyone’s gonna make fun of it”.
“But it is, in fact, a genius name and people just don’t appreciate it yet because it’s too avant-garde,” she said.
A-12 is thought to be a reference to the Lockheed A-12, a CIA aircraft codenamed Archangel. Æ is pronounced ‘ash’, leading Reddit users to suggest the baby’s name will be pronounced Sasha Archangel.

Grimes says baby’s gender ‘doesn’t need to be known’.
In the same YouTube Q&A, Grimes also revealed that her child will be allowed to “decide their fate and destiny” when asked about their gender.
She explained: “I don’t want to say the gender of the baby … because I feel like their privacy should be protected.
“I don’t think they can consent to being famous or being in public. And I don’t want to gender them in case that’s not how they feel in their life.
“I don’t know, I just feel like it doesn’t need to be known.”
The baby is Grimes’ first and Musk’s seventh.
The South-African born businessman had six children with his first wife, Canadian author Justine Musk. Their first son, Nevada, died at 10 weeks old.
X Æ A-12 Musk is Grimes’ first child. Throughout her pregnancy the singer has kept fans updated on her condition, revealing in February that she had suffered “complications” and felt “woefully ill-prepared” for parenthood.
