A gay couple have tied the knot during the coronavirus pandemic with a handful of guests who observed social distancing guidelines and wore face masks.

Cézar Salza and Kyle Hill wed on April 18 in a friend’s back garden in San Francisco after realising friends and family would not be able to travel for some time.

Kyle told The Bay Area Reporter that they had planned to marry in June with their friends and family present, but as the coronavirus spread, they realised it wouldn’t be possible.

The gay couple married with 10 people present and observed coronavirus social distancing guidelines.

Cézar and Kyle already had the marriage licence, so they decided to put a call out on Facebook looking for someone to officiate at a wedding ceremony.

Through that call out, they were connected with Jared Scherer, a gay man and a local marriage commissioner, and they went about planning their big day.

The pandemic couldn’t stop us.

There were 10 people in total at the ceremony, including the couple and Scherer.

In an Instagram post, Cézar wrote: “We said yes.”

“The pandemic couldn’t stop us,” he added.

“Don’t worry we practice social distancing with the rest of witnesses.”

He said they had “just a few friends” and “all the needed measures” at the ceremony.

They are planning a celebration with friends and family in Mexico when the COVID-19 pandemic comes to an end.

The couple’s whirlwind romance started around a year ago when they both swiped right on Tinder, they told the Bay Area Reporter.

They got engaged in December after taking a trip to Spain to meet Cézar’s family. They also took some time away in Portugal during the trip, where Kyle popped the question.

Kyle and Cézar are hoping that, when the coronavirus pandemic comes to an end, they will be able to have a big celebration in Mexico with all of their family and friends.

They couple have since gotten a “lovely dog” called Gus, Cézar revealed on Instagram.

In the adorable Instagram post, he said Gus had come into their lives to make their family “bigger and happier in this intense coronavirus moment”.
