RuPaul is keeping the Celebrity Drag Race cast a secret, but here’s who we’re hoping will bring it to the runway

RuPaul hotly tipped for Strictly Come Dancing 2020 line-up

The Celebrity Drag Race cast is one of the world’s most fiercely-protected secrets, but that hasn’t stopped PinkNews from making a few well-placed guesses as to who will sashay onto the runway.

RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race will go where no series of Drag Race has gone before, inviting a roster of stars into the werk room to compete against one another,

The spin-off series will welcome back 12 iconic queens who will take it in turns to makeover their celebrity guests. Alyssa Edwards, Asia O’Hara, Bob the Drag Queen, Kim Chi, Monét X Change, Monique Heart, Nina West, Trinity the Tuck, Trixie Mattel, and Vanessa Vanjie Mateo have all been confirmed to star.

Trixie teased the concept to PinkNews back in December, saying: “It’s basically the ‘magic of makeover’ episode, but with super A-list celebrities.

“People who are heterosexual, non-drag identifying people, who have entire careers, wilfully getting into drag because they want to gain something by living in our pumps for the day.”

Who exactly will take to the show’s hallowed mainstage remains unknown at present. The clue’s in the title here, with the Celebrity Drag Race cast set to stay a mystery until the episodes air.

Whether this is an attempt to emulate the success of the Masked Singer, or simply a ploy to hide a less-than-A-list cast remains to be seen (we suspect the latter).

Nonetheless, here’s our dream Celebrity Drag Race cast.

1. Kim Petras

RuPaul finally used a Kim Petras song – “Heart To Break” – for a lip-sync in season 12, episode five. Coincidence?

2. Laverne Cox

The Orange Is The New Black actor is quite possibly our favourite person on Instagram, where she regularly demonstrates her expert-level hairography.

3. Dominique Jackson

The Pose actor, who plays Elektra Abundance-Wintour-Evangelista, is a true child of the ballroom, having been a part of the legendary House of Sinclair.

And we’ve got a feeling that she’d do pretty well in a reading challenge.

4. MJ Rodriguez

1. She can sing.
2. She can vogue.
3. Can you imagine a Blanca-Elektra face-off on the runway?

5. Sam Smith

Sam Smith is no stranger to a wig or a pair of heels. We’re taking the above as confirmation they’re in the Celebrity Drag Race cast, tbh.

6. Trace Lysette

The Hustlers actor is a close friend of Drag Race royalty Peppermint, and appeared on the season nine finale in support of her. So basically, she’s as good as in.

7. Candis Cayne

Actor and choreographer Candis Cayne has made a number of appearances on Drag Race and it’s long-forgotten little sister Drag U.

8. Chaz Bono

Chaz was a guest judge back in the halcyon days of season six, and was made to endure quips about his mother’s and grandmother’s vaginas during a truly heinous chat show challenge. Surely it’s about time for a RuDemption.

9. Lachlan Watson

RuPaul loves a baby queen, and we’re pretty much convinced that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Lachlan Watson, 19, could do what Scaredy Kat could never and actually win a damn challenge. Their Instagram proves they’ve got the make-up skills at the very least.

10. Brian Michael Smith

Brian became the first Black trans man to win a series regular role when he was cast in 9-1-1 spin-off Lone Star. And if that doesn’t scream charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent, then honey what does?

11. Hunter Schafer

The Euporia star is quite possibly the only person in the world who could challenge Gigi Goode for her fashion queen crown right now. Can you imagine her serving Jules’ signature eye make-up on the mainstage?

12. Harry Styles

If Drag Race has proven itself to be about one thing: it’s diversity, right?.

Just how as in certain seasons, RuPaul has deigned to allow a single trans queen to compete, we think it’s only fair that Celebrity Drag Race casts its net just as openly and includes everyone’s favourite cis man, Harry Styles.
