Viral singing sensation Rebecca Black just came out as queer: ‘Some days I feel more on the gay side than others’
Singing sensation Rebecca Black, who went viral after her 2011 single ‘Friday’, has come out as queer.
While Black said earlier this year that she believes sexuality is on a spectrum, she has never confirmed her own sexuality.
In a YouTube video in January, the 22-year-old singer answered the question: “Are you a member of the LGBT+ community?”
She said: “I definitely see sexuality as being on a spectrum. You can definitely be on one end of the spectrum or the other, you can be very gay or very straight, it is super cool.
“But of course, with there being a spectrum, there is this huge middle ground where everybody else falls in. I definitely see myself as being on that spectrum.”
Rebecca Black recently broke up with a woman.

But in a recent episode of the Dating Straight podcast, Rebecca Black revealed that she had recently been through a breakup with a woman after a “pretty long” relationship, and that she identifies as queer.
She said: “I made, like, a conscious decision not to come out. But people started asking, and I just stopped not responding. I’m still in the process, it feels like.”
“It’s like the f**king quarantine, every day is different,” Black continued. “It’s something that over the past few years I’ve obviously been having a lot of conversations with myself about.
“I think to me, the word ‘queer’ feels really nice. I have dated a lot of different types of people, and I just don’t really know what the future holds, and some days I feel a little bit more on the gay side than others.”
Black also was quick to say that she is definitely not looking to date right now, especially while social distancing.
She added: “I don’t really want to date right now, but even if I did, I have no choice.
“Unless I want to get on Raya and Skype date them? No.”
