British barrister Judge Rinder has revealed his 92-year-old grandfather has passed away after contracting coronavirus

Known offscreen as Robert Rinder, the court show host, 41, revealed the harrowing news Friday in a tearful interview on This Morning to hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford.

Robert paid a heartfelt tribute to his grandfather live on air, Metro.co.uk reported, a man who had “survived the Second World War” but lost his battle with COVID-19.

Judge Rinder delivers powerful and moving tribute to grandfather.

“Can I say one other quick thing if that’s alright?” Rinder said.

“My grandfather, who was 92, passed away two nights ago of this terrible disease.

“You know the thing is that he survived the Second World War and was a man that was determined and conspired to see joy in the world.

“As much as there is terrible and appalling news out there we also as a community, as neighbours, as a country need to remember there are thousands of people recovering from diseased every single day.”

“The police are doing their very best and key workers are too,” he added.

“And we as a nation are responding positively.

“That is absolutely the message I know he would have wanted to share.”

TV star shares memories of grandfather who died of coronavirus.

Rinder recounted how close he was to his grandfather. Whenever he would visit him, Rinder said, his grandfather would ask what positive news there is in the world.

He said: “Whenever I saw him, which was often, I loved him very much, he would say: ‘What good news is there son?’

“And that’s something that I think that that generation reminds us all of and it’s been a challenging time but I remember him in that positive way.

“Something, perhaps, when we get up in the morning depressed, overwhelmed perhaps with anxiety and distress that’s worth remembering.”
