Trixie Mattel jumps on Gal Gadot’s ‘Imagine’ bandwagon and it’s equal parts hilarious and terrifying

Trixie Mattel shared her own take on Gal Gadot’s “Imagine” video and it’s quite something.

The Drag Race icon and verified skinny legend is the latest celebrity to cover John Lennon’s 1971 hit while self-isolating.

Whereas Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot recruited a bevy of A-list stars for her version, Trixie went solo, sporting four looks we’d kindly describe as quick drag and one unsettling Body Snatchers fantasy.

As with pretty much everything Trixie Mattel does, the clip became instant meme fodder.

As coronavirus forces much of the world into self-isolation, celebrities have turned to social media to keep themselves entertained.

Like Trixie, comedian Joe Lycett busied himself by recording a parody of Gal Gadot’s “Imagine” video, replacing many of the lyrics with the word “b*****d”.

He was joined by comedians including Nish Kumar, Katherine Ryan, Suzi Ruffell and Bake Off’s Noel Fielding.

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost revived their roles from the zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead, this time explaining away a seemingly homophobic joke.

Drag Race winner Aquaria revived her Snatch Game character Melania Trump to deliver a public service announcement on the pandemic, lip-syncing to a message the first lady herself had released earlier in the week.

Elsewhere about 30 other drag performers, including Alaska and season 12’s Rock M Sakura, are preparing to take part in “the world’s first ever digital drag show” on Friday (March 20).

The show will stream on Twitch and will be hosted by drag queen Biqtch Puddiń, winner of the second season of Dragula.

Viewers will be encouraged to donate a suggested $10 (£8.50) and will be able to tip individual kings and queens.
