American singer and actor Adam Lambert has said he wants to play George Michael in a film about the late singer’s life, saying we “don’t know that much about him”.

Lambert, who rose to fame on American Idol and later toured with Queen, told Metro that he would like to see George Michael’s life story played out on the big screen.

“I’d like to see a George Michael biopic,” the gay singer-songwriter said.

“I think that would be very interesting. That’d be cool, I just feel like, we don’t know that much about him. You know, to me, it would be great to kind of explore George’s life.”

Adam Lambert said he would be prepared to play George Michael in a film about his life.

When asked if he would take on the role of George Michael in a biopic, he said he would be prepared to “give it a go”.

“Yeah, sign me up,” he added.

The singer also opened up about his relationship with Queen band members, saying they are “like a family”.

“We’ve now been working together for so long that we know each other, it’s very comfortable,” he said.

Lambert also revealed that his new album Velvet, which was released today, is his most “queer” album yet.

I think that would be very interesting. That’d be cool, I just feel like, we don’t know that much about him. You know, to me, it would be great to kind of explore George’s life.

“When I started like a decade ago, it was very much a business of gatekeepers,” Lambert said.

He said he used to feel that he had to play by “a certain framework” in order to get played on the radio.

“One of the great things now is we’re in a time where, because of streaming, you’re really having a direct line to your audience.”

He said some of those “social taboos” are starting to disappear.

The English singer-songwriter died on Christmas Day in 2016.
