Madonna told fans “this broken doll needs to stay in bed” as she cancelled a third Paris show on her Madame X tour.

The pop icon said she was forced to cancel her Sunday, March 1, show after falling and hurting herself on stage two days previously.

“If only knees didn’t twist and cartilage didn’t tear and nothing hurt and tears never fell out of our eyes,” she wrote.

“But alas they do and thank God for this important reminder that we are human.”

Madonna has been battling injury throughout much of the gruelling Madame X tour, and has been forced to cancel 14 shows before this latest one.

Here I Am——Flesh and Blood 🩸 If only knees didn’t twist and cartilage didn’t tear and nothing hurt and tears never fell out of our eyes………But alas they do and Thank God for this important reminder that we are human. I Fell 2 nights ago on stage when a chair was literally pulled out from underneath me by mistake and I landed on the floor on my tail bone. I made it thru the show last night but just barely because I hate disappointing. However today even I can see that this broken doll held together with tape and glue, needs to stay in bed and rest for a few days so she can finish the tour with a smile on her face and in one piece. ❌ Thank You for your understanding Paris! 🇫🇷 🙏🏼 #madamextheatre

This latest setback was a direct result of her onstage mishap, she explained.

“I fell two nights ago on stage when a chair was literally pulled out from underneath me by mistake and I landed on the floor on my tail bone.

“I made it thru the show last night but just barely because I hate disappointing.

“However today even I can see that this broken doll held together with tape and glue, needs to stay in bed and rest for a few days so she can finish the tour with a smile on her face and in one piece.”

A number of fans reported that Madonna “missed the chair” while performing “Vogue” and had to be helped up by a dancer.

Later on in the show she reportedly burst into tears and told fans she was in pain.

Madonna battles on and performs Madame X to rave reviews.

Madonna has six dates left on the Madame X tour, and is scheduled to return to the 2,800 capacity Le Grand Rex on Tuesday, March 3.

Despite her injuries, reviews have said that the show is among her very best, with the singer making good on her promise of an intimate, up-close-and-personal experience.

A memorable moment came during one of the London Palladium dates, which ran past its curfew and ended with the theatre’s staff lowering a metal fire curtain on Madonna and her dancers.

This didn’t deter the singer, who continued to perform as the house lights came on and her microphone was switched off.
