Parasite director Bong Joon-ho has become an instant meme, after making two of his Oscars kiss for the cameras.

The Korean director swept the Academy Awards on Sunday, picking up the awards for Best Picture, Best Director and Best International Film and Best Original Screenplay.

Following his victory, Bong celebrated in the winners’ room – by picking up two of his trophies and making them kiss.

Parasite director Bong Joon-ho is ‘hero of 2020’.

Naturally, the internet has gone wild for the moment from the director – who previously included a gay couple in Netflix movie Okja.

One Twitter user wrote: “This is the hero 2020 needs.”

Another added: “Bong Joon-ho said gay rights!!”

One Twitter user replied: “I am delighted Parasite won, because it is right and historic and the best nominee and also for this photo.”

Another added: “Not to be dramatic… but I would die for him.”

“God said Oscar and Oscar, not Adam and Eve,” wrote one respondent.

After making the two Oscars make out, the director apparently decided to go in for a kiss himself.

The director is yet to respond to the memes – though that’s not surprising, given he declared in his acceptance speech: “I will drink until next morning, thank you.”

Elton John is only LGBT+ winner of the night.

The only major LGBT+ award win of the night came as Elton John won the Academy Award for Best Original Song alongside his longtime collaborator Bernie Taupin for “I’m Gonna Love Me Again” from Rocketman.

The singer gave a moving speech in which he thanked his husband and their two sons.

“David, I love you so much,” he said, adding: “To my beautiful boys who are watching this in Sydney, how much do I love you? Daddy loves you.”

Meanwhile, out performers Janelle Monae and Billy Porter opened the show with a musical performance that blew the entire house down.
