Pop legend Madonna, weathered by criticism for a string of cancelled concerts, has remained defiant and determined to deliver her fans a gig they’ll never forget.

And boy, did she deliver. Despite the curtain call the singer had one more song left to sing and she declared that the show must go on.

This was despite a nine tonne metal fire curtain coming down on Madonna and her team of dancers, she alleged. She later posted a tweet furiously claiming that London Palladium “censored” her.

‘Power to the people!’

At 11pm, her Madame X performance was bluntly ended by event organisers.

She wrote: “It was five minutes past our 11:00 curfew, we had one more song to do and The Palladium decided to censor us by pulling down the metal fire curtain that weighs nine tonnes.

“Fortunately they stopped it half way and no one was hurt.

“Many thanks to the entire audience who did not move and never left us. Power to the people!”

In the video footage she posted alongside the tweet, she can be heard screaming, “f***, motherf***er,” as the curtain descended.

She then swung herself to face the packed stadium and carried on with her performance of “I Rise” as the house lights switched on and her microphone went silent.

Palladium cutting her show short at curfew came after organisers previously warned the star not to break it.

A spokesperson told the BBC that while the venue denied that staff used the fire curtain, they did not comment on the show being cut short.

“Contrary to a number of reports, at no point during last night’s performance did staff at The London Palladium pull down, or attempt to pull down, the Iron Fire Curtain,” they said.

While Madonna claimed the “iron” curtain plummeted down, the video appeared to show the main cloth curtain.

Fans offer praise and apathy towards Madonna’s ‘censoring’.

Her post provoked a mixed bag of reaction from fans. Some praised the pop guru for being a “Queen”, while others seemed less enthused given her track record of delayed gig starting times.
