Lil Nas X and Coronation Street is the ambitious crossover we never knew we needed

Two worlds collided today: The yeehaw gay agenda mascot that is Lil Nas X and that TV show your grandmother watches while eating Wethers Originals on the couch, Coronation Street.

Twitter user Joeling helmed the ambitious crossover on Sunday, threading together a colourful list of photographs of the “Old Town Road” rapper clearly tapping his style inspiration from the ITV show’s own Liz McDonald.

Lil Nas X, known off-stage as Montero Jill, clearly has a mood-board of McDonald by his wardrobe.

Lil Nas X and Corrie‘s Liz McDonald are fashion powerhouses in pink.

Portrayed by Beverley Callard, McDonald has been a stable fo the sitcom series since her 1989 debut. She’s had a rich array of failed marriages, fiery feuds and the occasional run-in with the law.

But she’s also a full-time style icon, with Joelings’ thread showing her in all-pink ensembles, metallic jackets and posing on the cobblestone that proves that she is truly the pin-up person for fashion.

Users with excellent taste in style quickly branded it as ‘the most important thread in 2020’.

‘Panini’ rapper’s hot pink Grammy look wasn’t a hit with everyone.

Hitting the Grammy red carpet last month as a pink dominatrix Versace cowboy catapulted the 20-year-old meme artist into the pages of fashion magazines, drawing praise up and down the style scene.

But the “Rodeo” singer did encounter some homophobic critics, including rapper Pastor Troy who pelted the Grammy-winner’s pink dominatrix look as the reason he himself did not win an award.

While Troy’s weird flex petered out and he deleted his bizarre rant shortly after, Lil Nas X did manage to shut him down all the while promoting his new song.
