The founder of a makeup brand has sacked his own sister for sending anti-transgender messages about YouTuber NikkieTutorials.

Jerrod Blandino of Too Faced, which Estée Lauder bought for a reported $1.45 billion in 2016, spoke out after his sister sent messages accusing the popular makeup guru of “lying” about her gender.

NikkieTutorials, real name Nikkie De Jager, came out as trans in a video on Monday, explaining that she was “born in the wrong body” and had transitioned to female in her early teens.

Blandino’s sister, who goes by the name Dani California on Instagram, wrote: “Transgender, huh? That’s not the only thing she’s been LYING about.”

After outcry at her comments, Blandino confirmed that the company had cut ties with his sister.

The out make-up executive said in a statement: “Although I love my sister very much, the things she says or does have absolutely nothing to do with me and do not in any way reflect me, my opinions, thoughts, or feelings nor speak for me or Too Faced in any way shape or form.

“I have always stood for love, equality and kindness in my life and everything I do. I am sorry for the hurt she has caused.

“Let it be known that I am truly shocked and disgusted to my core at her recent actions.’ do not tolerate this behaviour and she is no longer an employee of Too Faced.”

Praise for decision to sack influencer

Blandino, who is the company’s Chief Creative Officer following its acquisition, was praised for the decision.

One response said: “Although I have a very bad taste in my mouth about Too Faced I respect and applaud this decision. After this statement I think I will continue to purchase from them.”

Another added: “I am happy that you fired her, because hatred like that should not and will not be tolerated and I hope Nikkie doesn’t have too deal with her anymore.”

Dani California has denied she is transphobic. She wrote on Instagram: “Lets be clear, I love trans people & dislike anyone who lies to hurt others! Period!”
