Cardi B is coming to a Congress near you, maybe, after she teased her campaign to become a member of the US House of Representatives.

The 27-year-old rapper tweeted on Tuesday that if she went “back to school” she could “be part of Congress”.

It comes off the back of her tweet on Monday when she expressed her desire to “be a politician”.

The two-pronged pundit, being vocal supporter of presidential candidate Bernie Sanders and staunch critic of US president Donald Trump, was caught in the crossfire after her announcement as she clashed with Republican followers.

Although, she did receive backing from the People for Bernie group.

Cardi B trades barbs with Republican voters patronising her views.

Detractors, primarily Trump enthusiasts, targeted Cardi, but she quashed ant and all criticism that users pelted her with.

Congress-person Cardi implored her followers to have “friendly debates” with her, especially if they are Conservative.

One Republican follower said he was “cool” with Cardi’s criteria, “just don’t touch my guns”.

The comment sparked her to sketch out her views on gun control.

She explained: “I do believe we have the right to bare arms, however, I do believe in order to get a gun we should get mental check-ups, proper training and a older age limit to own one.

“If the proper age limit to drinking is 21, because these kids can’t handle their liquor how can they possibly get the responsibility to own a gun?

“Is that fair?” the Grammy award-winning musician added.

To another follower who flattened the right to own a firearm to “free speech”, the ‘Be Careful’ singer sounded out: “And it can also get prohibited like the time alcohol was but guess what?

“It was allow again with regulations and strict rules and now people drink responsibly.”

But the singer sparring with her more right wing-leaning followers didn’t end there, as one mentioned that “you can be 18 to join the military”.

“To join the military you need proper training and follow rules right?” the performed prodded.

“They do evaluation check to get in right? If you don’t qualify you get kicked out right?

“So, if you don’t get training and don’t follow proper rules and don’t qualify to own a gun you shouldn’t have one.”
