Billie Eilish will sing the new James Bond theme song and we literally have no choice but to stan

Billie Eilish

This is official, Billie Eilish will be voicing the theme song for the 25th James Bond film, No Time To Die.

The movie producers,  Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, announced on January 14 that Eilish and her brother, Finneas, have written “an incredibly powerful and moving song for No Time To Die, which has been impeccably crafted to work within the emotional story of the film”.

Eilish said: “It feels crazy to be a part of this in every way. To be able to score the theme song to a film that is part of such a legendary series is a huge honour.

“James Bond is the coolest film franchise ever to exist. I’m still in shock.”

FINNEAS added: “Writing the theme song for a Bond film is something we’ve been dreaming about doing our entire lives.

“There is no more iconic pairing of music and cinema than the likes of Goldfinger and Live And Let Die.

“We feel so so lucky to play a small role in such a legendary franchise, long live 007.”

Billie Eilish had fans waiting and they couldn’t hold it any longer.

The artist recently responded to rumours about her participation in the new motion picture by dropping some serious hints. But nothing was official until now.

The singer’s name has been linked on the Bond blog MI6-HQ and the 18-year-old has kept the rumour alive by sharing Bond-related pictures on her Instagram stories.

The blog wrote: “MI6 understands that American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish will be performing the title song to the 25th James Bond film No Time To Die.”

She has shared pictures of eight different Bond girls including: Halle Berry (Die Another Day), French actress Lea Seydoux (Spectre) and Eva Green (Casino Royale).

If that isn’t the biggest hint the internet has seen, we don’t know what is.

Billie Eilish is the youngest performer to create a James Bond theme song.

Every James Bond movie recruits a singer-songwriter to create their own personalised theme songs.

Madonna voiced Die Another Day’s theme song, Adele did Skyfall, and Sam Smith jumped in for Spectre.

Jack White and Alicia Keys were also brought onboard for the soundtrack for Quantum of Solace with ‘Another Way to Die’.

Eilish, though, is the youngest one to have achieved this task and she is literally making history.

The team of the film announced on Twitter: “The #NoTimeToDie title song will be performed by @billieeilish. Billie has written the song with her brother @finneas and is the youngest artist in history to write and record a James Bond theme song.”

James Bond director has followed Billie Eilish on social media.

No Time To Die director Cary Joji Fukunaga had started following Eilish and her brother Finneas.

One thing to keep in mind though: the director only follows 81 people. He also follows Phoebe Waller-Bridge who has been involved in the writing of the upcoming film.

According to The Guardian, the Fleabag creator has been chosen among many to “liven up the script”.

One Eilish’s involvement in the film was confirmed, Cary Joji Fukunaga said: “I am a huge fan of Billie and FINNEAS.

“Their creative integrity and talent are second to none and I cannot wait for audiences to hear what they’ve brought – a fresh new perspective whose vocals will echo for generations to come,” said Cary Joji Fukunaga.

Fans are going wild over this.

The internet is not about to let go of these speculations.

One Twitter user wrote: “Billie Eilish making the new James Bond song? We have to stan.”

And the rest is history:

No Time To Die itself will tell us on April 2, 2020, when it is released in cinemas. Because let’s be honest, James Bond IS a “bad guy”.
