Court hears how hairstylist Kevin Bacon was ‘mutilated and had testicles consumed’ in horrifying Grindr murder

Grindr cannibal who ate testicles of Kevin Bacon too incompetent for trial

Newly released court transcripts have revealed graphic details of the murder of a Michigan man who was mutilated and partially eaten by his Grindr date over Christmas.

Hairstylist Kevin Bacon was last seen on Christmas Eve as he left to meet Mark Latunski, a man he connected with on the gay dating app. His family reported him missing when he didn’t arrive at his parents’ house on Christmas Day.

Police searched Latunski’s home on December 28 after evidence indicated Bacon had been at the residence. Court transcripts state that they found Bacon’s body hung naked from the ceiling by his ankles with his throat cut. Parts of the body were missing, including the testicles.

Detective sergeant James Moore testified that Latunski admitted to mutilating the body and consuming the testicles.

“Mr Latunski stated he used a knife, stabbed him in the back one time, then slit his throat,” Moore said. “Afterwards, Mr Latunski stated he wrapped rope around the ankles of Mr Bacon, and hung him from the rafters on the ceiling.”

Latunski, 50, was charged with one count of open murder and one count of mutilation of a human body. He is being held without bond in Shiawassee County Jail and is expected to appear in court on January 8.

Bacon’s family say they have been “overwhelmed” with support from the community after the Grindr murder. Hundreds of people gathered at a local high school for a vigil in his memory, and even Hollywood actor Kevin Bacon (no relation) sent a message of condolence.

The victim’s father told WILX10: “He obviously got into something he wasn’t prepared for. We all make mistakes. It’s gut-wrenching to hear the details and we’re just beside ourselves.

“What was released today shows Kevin had a dark side. For those who knew and loved Kevin did not know that side. Those who knew him knew his good side. He loved and cherished everyone he touched and he touched a lot of lives in the past during his short life.”

The family have launched a fundraiser for his funeral expenses. “My brother Kevin was taken suddenly from the people who loved him,” his sister, Jennifer, wrote.

Police reportedly responded to a bizarre incident at Latunski’s house just a month before Bacon’s murder, when a neighbour saw him chasing a partially nude man wearing a leather kilt.

The man reportedly had blood on his face and was screaming for help, but refused to press charges and a police investigation determined no crime had been committed.
