Two men were kicked out of a straight bar for dancing together after being told ‘only heterosexuals can dance’
A gay man and his straight friend were reportedly kicked out of a bar in Puerto Rico for dancing together, with staff telling them: “Heterosexuals can dance, not men with men.”
Trey May shared two videos on Twitter which show him dancing with his boyfriend’s straight male friend in the Puerto Rican bar.
At the end of the clip, a staff member approaches the group. In the second video, the group can be seen standing outside the bar.
“OK, so… this place is very homophobic,” May said in the second clip.

Gay man kicked out of bar for dancing with another man urged people to avoid the establishment.
“Just got kicked out for dancing with someone who wasn’t even my boyfriend. So if you’re ever in this area in Puerto Rico please do not go.
“These people are very homophobic.”
The bar – which is called Gyros and is based in Orocovis, Puero Rico – issued a statement to David Begnaud of CBS This Morning about the incident.

“Greetings, everything was a misunderstanding, nobody threw them away, they were only asked to go outside since they had also lit an electronic cigarette, those who quickly get frustrated are you and quickly defame what is not.
“That’s all I say, I just ask you not to continue commenting on something that is not real. Goodnight.”
The bar has since apologised – but claimed the group were asked to leave because they were bumping into people as they danced.
May’s boyfriend Luis Santiago-Rivera has also claimed that staff used homophobic slurs during the incident.
They said the incident left them feeling embarrassed in front of their families and friends.
As the controversy boiled over, the bar posted a lengthier statement to its Facebook page in which they said it was never their intention to “offend anyone.”
“We apologize profusely to all the clients affected today and we want them to know that we are open to engage in a dialogue with them in specific.”
They then claimed that the group was kicked out of the bar because they were bumping into people when they were dancing.
However, the gay couple has insisted that they were not reprimanded by staff for bumping into people – they were simply told that two men couldn’t dance together.
