This exchange between Monet X Change before she was famous and a stranger in Times Square is everything

Monet X Change with Jeannie in Times Square (Facebook)

Monet X Change is one of the breakout stars of RuPaul’s Drag Race, but just a few short years ago she was your average New York drag queen.

The drag queen made a name for herself on the tenth season of the hit show, but before she made it big, she was making videos in Times Square.

In a video uploaded to Facebook three years ago, Monét X Change wanders into a busy Times Square where she proceeds to sit down on the ground and start doing her make-up ahead of a performance. She holds up a mirror and ignores the funny looks she gets from tourists.

But then, out of nowhere, a white woman from Oklahoma walks over to Monét X Change walks over and sits beside her to talk.

Drag queen Monét X Change talks to the woman about make-up in the video.

“I do a show at Barracuda, it’s right in Chelsea,” Monét tells the woman, who is called Jeannie.

“Oh yeah? Are you a dancer?”

“I’m a dancer, singer, cartwheeler,” Monét replies.

Jeannie then asks Monét X Change if she can take a photo of her – we can only assume she has never seen an actual drag queen before – and the drag performer gives permission.

With racial tension at a boiling point in this country, this beautiful white woman (Jeannie Glover) comes over with eyes of love, and a heart of compassion… to just ‘make a friend’, and now we are bonded for life!

“Oh, you are so handsome,” Jeannie says after taking the photo.

“Oh thank you,” Monet X Change replies. “Handsome, I’ll take it!”

"Street Beatz"…Watch me paint and get into full Drag in the middle of Times Square. Yes, FULL Drag!Like n' Cher <3***Cheyenne Picardo and I set out on this project, with no expectations…and it was honestly one the most organically beautiful things to ever happen to me. With racial tension at a boiling point in this country, this beautiful white woman (Jeannie Glover), comes over with eyes of love, and a heart of compassion…to just "make a friend", and now we are bonded for life!***

Jeannie then proceeds to ask the drag queen about her name – “Is Monét your stage name?” and the pair then discuss make-up techniques.

The drag queen also offers Jeannie some tips on contouring.

“So is the secret just shading?” Jeannie asks.

“Yeah, shading,” Monét replies. “Yeah, it’s all about contour and highlighting.”

Jeannie compliments Monét’s make-up, telling her it’s beautiful, and even tries on her shoes before the drag queen sets off with her suitcase in tow.

In a heartwarming post with the video, Monét X Change said that she set out on the project “with no expectations” but added: “It was honestly one [of] the most organically beautiful things to ever happen to me. With racial tension at a boiling point in this country, this beautiful white woman (Jeannie Glover) comes over with eyes of love, and a heart of compassion… to just ‘make a friend’, and now we are bonded for life!”
