People are clamouring for a Cher Christmas album to make the Yuletide even gayer

It is December 23 and across the world one clear question is ringing out: Why has Cher never recorded a Christmas album?
Cher has put out an astonishing 26 albums across her decades-spanning career – including an important contribution to gay rights in the form of ABBA covers album Dancing Queen – but not one of them has been dedicated to Christmas.
Of course there’s Mariah Carey’s two Christmas albums, and even Kylie Christmas – but there’s no one we’d rather hear slay some bells than Cher.
The closest Cher has got to releasing a Christmas record is a cover of ‘Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)’, which was released on Rosie O’Donnell’s 1999 album A Rosie Christmas.
While an admirable effort, the solitary track does not sate our desire to hear Cher take on the plethora of Christmas classics that are frankly crying out for an up-tempo vocoder rework, from ‘Let It Snow’ to ‘Santa Baby’.
Cher fans are crying out for a Christmas album
As Christmas approaches, literally dozens of people have taken to tweeting Cher to ask for a Christmas album.

Fans launched a petition
A petition was even set up on the issue on Change.org last year, asking Cher’s record label Warner Music Group to help.
It reads: “Problem: It’s 2018 and we still don’t have a Cher Christmas album.
“Solution: We need to convince Cher to record a Christmas album.”
To date, 494 people have signed the petition, which Warner Music Group is yet to respond to.

Cher previously hinted that she might consider a Christmas album, responding to one fan: “Next year.”
While there’s no official news about a Cher Christmas album, she is working on a sequel to her ABBA covers album.
