Taylor Swift is very emotional about gay fan using her music to come out

Taylor Swift made Reid Arthur's day after his lip sync

Taylor Swift has made a fan’s day, after he came out to students at his conservative Christian university with a lip sync to her music.

Last week Reid Arthur, who attends George Fox University in Oregon, received attention online after coming out to a mash-up of Swift’s ‘Ready For It?’ and her anti-homophobia anthem ‘You Need to Calm Down’.

The student incorporated an outfit reveal into the performance to coincide with the line “Shade never made anybody less gay”, revealing a top with fringe in the colours of the rainbow flag.

After the clip went viral online, it apparently came to the attention of Taylor Swift herself – who decided to send Reid a message.

Naturally, big-time Taylor Swift fan Reid Arthur proceeded to freak out.

He tweeted: “This woman. My Queen. My Icon. The woman who’s lyrics I have screamed at the top of my lungs. Who’s songs have walked me through the hardest time of my life.

“TAYLOR ALISON SWIFT. MOTHER OF MEREDITH, OLIVIA, AND BENJAMIN, KNOWS MY NAME. TWEETED ME. I CANNOT CALM DOWN!!!!!”

He added: “HOW AM I EVER SUPPOSED TO DO MY HOMEWORK EVER AGAIN. 13 CLAP HAND EMOJIS. 13. My queen is extra. I chose the CORRECT fandom.”

‘Your music has been the soundtrack of my life’

The student tried to compose himself a bit before replying to Swift directly, writing: “Thank you @taylorswift13, I cannot begin to to tell you how much that meant to me.

“Your music has been the soundtrack of my life, and has seen me through the highs and lows. Love you much!

“Can’t wait to watch you at the AMAs and Lover deserved a AOTY nom. ?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️”

The gay gods clearly aligned for the AMAs, where Taylor Swift scooped up six awards including Artist of the Decade, breaking the all-time record set by Michael Jackson in the process.

Reid’s performance has also led for calls for change at s George Fox University, with students urging leaders to ditch its official anti-gay marriage policies in an open letter.
