Elizabeth Warren is very excited about Roxane Gay’s engagement

Bestselling bisexual author Roxane Gay and lesbian writer and artist Debbie Millman have announced their engagement.

In an Instagram carousel post, Millman said: “I met a girl, who loves to write and is really into Beyoncé.”

“We went on some dates, we fell in love… and now she is my fiancé,” the rhyming post concludes.

On Twitter, US presidential hopeful Elizabeth Warren – whose campaign for the Democratic nomination Gay has endorsed – congratulated the couple.

Gay is the author of ‘Bad Feminist’, ‘Hunger’ and ‘World of Wakanda’, as well as a New York Times columnist and a professor at Yale.

Roxane Gay and Debbie Millman are engaged. ❤️

Millman is an author, educator, curator, and host of the ‘Design Matters’ podcast, according to her website.

Senator Elizabeth Warren has promised strong support to the LGBT+ community if she becomes president, including reversing Donald Trump’s ban on trans people serving in the US military on her first day in office.

After overwhelmingly positive reactions to the news, Gay thanked her followers on Twitter, saying, “I am overwhelmed by all this kindness and excitement. Truly, thank you, from both of us.”

The pair met when Millman invited Gay onto her podcast. According to Autostraddle, this was part of a “long game” Millman played to meet Gay – including inviting people she knew that Gay would find interesting onto her podcast.

When Gay finally agreed to be on the podcast, Millman asked her out after they recorded the episode.

“It was the first time in my life that I aggressively went after someone,” Millman said.

“And it was the first time in my life that anyone aggressively pursued me,” Gay added.

After their first date, “we talked and I spilled wine on her because I’m so cool and then we went outside and she asked if she could kiss me and then she did,” Gay said.
