Ireland’s gay leader Leo Varadkar was at Lizzo’s Dublin concert and it was a huge, huge mood

Ireland’s gay Taoiseach Leo Varadkar was at a Lizzo concert in Dublin last night and the absolute indifference of the audience was hilarious.
People in Ireland flocked to the Olympia Theatre last night expecting a perfectly spectacular evening at the ‘Truth Hurts’ singer’s first Irish show. Needless to say, people were surprised to see Varadkar among the crowd, where he was probably not feeling ‘Good As Hell’, judging by the hilarious tweets.
Varadkar even got a starring role during Lizzo’s performance of ‘Juice’, according to one Twitter user – something the audience was only too happy to get on board with.
Unsurprisingly, people saw their chance to have a bit of fun with the Taoiseach – and at his expense.
Watching the whole crowd at Lizzo turn in unison and point towards Leo while singing ‘somebody come get this man’ is probably the closest I’ll ever get to a religious experience.

Not everyone was totally convinced that Varadkar was there to enjoy himself – some people thought it could be a PR stunt to help him get down with the kids.

Leo Varadkar makes a habit of appearing at Dublin’s big pop concerts.
Leo Varadkar’s presence at Lizzo’s concert shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. The Taoiseach – who came out as gay in 2015 – also recently spoke about seeing Cher in Dublin.
Last month, Varadkar said he wanted to get “Brexit done” by October 31 so he could see Cher the day after in Dublin. He is apparently a “really big fan” of the 73-year-old icon.
“The Taoiseach was clearly giddy to tell us about the Cher gig,” a source told the Irish Mirror.
“Leo was in good form before the Fine Gael dinner at the bar and we were chatting about how tiring Brexit had been over the last few months and how much we were just dying for it to be over.
“Leo chipped in then and said he knew how we felt and that he really wanted Boris to get the deal done by October 31.
Varadkar’s gushing letter to Kylie Minogue got a great deal of attention when it was released earlier this year.
Meanwhile, a letter Varadkar sent to Kylie Minogue when she performed in Dublin last year was released under the Freedom of Information Act earlier this year.
The note said: “Dear Kylie, just wanted to drop you a short note in advance of the concert in Dublin.
“I am really looking forward to it. Am a huge fan!”
He continued: “I understand you are staying in the Merrion Hotel which is just across the street from my office in Government Buildings.
“If you like, I’d love to welcome you to Ireland personally.”
He was later photographed with Minogue after her Irish concert.
