Batwoman aired a lesbian sex scene showing ‘queer woman kissing in bed without tank tops’ and it’s quite literally gay rights

Batwoman and Reagan

The latest episode of Batwoman showed two women kissing in bed without clothes on, and Twitter has declared that it is literally gay rights.

The scene on Sunday (October 27) showed Kate, otherwise known as Batwoman and played by Ruby Rose, and Reagan, played by Brianne Howey, waking up in bed together after Kate asked Reagan out in the last episode.

They then begin passionately kissing, before they are interrupted by a text message on Kate’s phone.

Fans of the show were overjoyed to see a lesbian almost-sex-scene which wasn’t censored, and showed women actually naked together.

One person wrote: “Are there queer women on my tv kissing in bed without tank tops???”

“I was so shocked to see two women kissing in bed on TV and not wearing like full-body ski suits I actually had to pause the episode,” said another.

Others praised The CW, the channel which airs the show, for “not shying away” from the scene. The CW is a free-to-air television network, rather than a cable channel, and they are usually more conservative in what they show.

Other Twitter users were grateful for the all-too-rare representation, showing that lesbians have “real sex too”.

One wrote: “Wow, Batwoman showed two lesbians kissing in bed and they don’t have all their clothes on. It’s almost like lesbians have real sex, too.”

Another said: “I still cant get over the fact Batwoman had a full on scene with two topless women making out in bed that I’m pretty sure had more lady kisses than all other Arrowverse shows combined!! Thank you @BatwomanWriters for the representation.”

When Rose was originally cast in the role, she faced backlash from people online who said she was not “queer enough” to play Batwoman.

She told Buzzfeed: “I really wanted to do the role. It’s a dream role.

“I’ve said it before, but I’m not going to be on my deathbed wishing that people on the internet liked me more.”
