A website for straight men is being dragged to hell and back after mistakenly tweeting a Grindr conversation
A website aimed at straight men is being dragged spectacularly on Twitter after it shared a screenshot of a Grindr chat and assumed it was between straight and cisgender people.
The screenshot – which was shared by Men’s Humor – showed an exchange between two people on the popular gay hook-up app in which one person asked the other: “What u into?”
They replied: “Mario Kart and Stuffed Crust Pizza.”
Men’s Humor has been dragged for assuming the chat was between straight and cisgender people.
Men’s Humor shared the screenshot and said the user should “marry her” – but LGBT+ people were quick to point out that the Mario Kart lover may not be a woman.
The tweet has been dragged by huge numbers of LGBT+ people who have mocked the account for assuming that a Grindr chat was between straight, cis people.
Thank you for recognizing that trans women use our app.
Some people were quick to point out that the website might want to consider recruiting some LGBT+ people to help avoid future gaffes.
If y’all need a social media manager who knows a thing about a thing or two I am right here.

Many also took the opportunity to wheel out their favourite gifs and memes that perfectly matched the occasion.

The tweet even attracted so much attention that Grindr felt the need to respond.
Grindr thanked Men’s Humor for recognising that trans women use the app.
The official Grindr account shared the tweet and wrote: “Thank you for recognizing that trans women use our app.” The tweet has been liked almost 30,000 times.
Many people praised Grindr for drawing attention to the fact that Grindr is not just for cisgender gay men, and that many trans women also use the app.

However, others criticised Grindr for using trans women as a part of their tweet without actually introducing measures to better protect trans women on the app. Trans women often face disproportionate levels of violence.
does this mean you’ll work harder to keep trans women safe on the app?— eva sade reign ? (@msevareign) October 17, 2019
It's funny cuz grindr and alot of the dudes using it often dont recognize that trans women use the app— Rick Owens stan account (@Grunge_Fantasy) October 17, 2019
Let’s hope that the guys behind MensHumor.com find out what Grindr is ahead of their next attempt at a viral joke.
