Fans are absolutely losing it over Harry Styles releasing a ‘bisexual anthem’ on National Coming Out Day

Harry Styles’ new video said bisexual rights, the internet has decreed.

After months of hints and teases about new, sexually charged music, Styles unleashed the thirst-quenching video for his new single, ‘Lights Up’.

Filmed in Mexico, the clip finds the ex-One Direction singer topless and glistening with sweat, as he writhes with a scantily-clad crowd of men and women.

Released on National Coming Out Day, the track features Styles singing about “step[ping]into the light” of a new identity and “never going back”.

Fans put two and two together and got 100 percent queer, with many hailing the track a “bisexual anthem”.

‘Lights Up’ serves as a follow-up of sorts to Styles’ previously singular bi anthem ‘Medicine’.

The unreleased track was debuted during Styles’ 2018 tour, and includes the line: “The boys and the girls are here/ I mess around with him/ And I’m OK with it.”

Naturally, fans took the lyrics as sacrosanct and a new queer icon was born.

For his part, Styles has refused to label his sexuality as straight, bi or otherwise – but has flown Pride, bi and trans flags while on tour.

Speaking to Rolling Stone in August, he said that he does this for his LGBT+ fans.

“I want to make people feel comfortable being whatever they want to be,” he said.

“I can’t claim that I know what it’s like, because I don’t. So I’m not trying to say, ‘I understand what it’s like.’ I’m just trying to make people feel included and seen.”
