Here’s a video of The Politician cast saying ‘gay rights’
For no apparent reason – or for every possible reason ever – the cast of The Politician have recorded themselves saying “gay rights.”
When The Politician landed on Netflix, fans were full of praise for its unapologetically queer vision of America.
As Ben Platt told PinkNews at the series premiere, “Ryan [Murphy, creator] has portrayed this Utopian society that hopefully we’re headed towards, where everybody falls somewhere along the spectrum of sexuality, everyone’s a little bit queer, and no one feels the need to discuss it or label it.”
The series has already found a dedicated following among LGBT+ viewers, who have now been rewarded with this exceptional video.

On Twitter, fans were grateful for the gift that had been bestowed upon them.

One star in particular – Transparent actor Judith Light – was singled out for special praise.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s absence was noted – but perhaps she felt her extensive wardrobes of kaftans and on-screen affair with actual lesbian icon Martina Navratilova had done the talking for her.
The absence of Gwyneth is very telling tho. Does she hate us? Iconic if so x

Also missing from the video was Jessica Lange, who plays the delightfully awful and instantly iconic Dusty Jackson.
The series follows Payton Hobart (Ben Platt), a would-be politician running for student president.
Over the course of eight episodes, Hobart is shown in loving relationships with both men and women. His mother Georgina (Paltrow) cheats on her husband with a woman (Navratilova), while his two closest confidantes are a queer woman and a character portrayed by a non-binary actor (Germaine).

The back half of the season revolves around Dusty’s long con to poison her granddaughter Infinity, who has falsely been led to believe for her entire life that she has cancer.
Her plot is uncovered when Payton chooses Infinity as his running mate. Despite his attempts to cover-up the secret (for the sake of his own reputation), the campaign is derailed when a video leaks of Infinity calling a gay reporter “butt munch.”
The scandal prompts Dusty to deliver the finest line of the season, which went viral before a single episode had been released: “That’s what gays do: munch butts and celebrate Halloween.”
