Michelle Visage has revealed that many fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race often mistake her for being a drag queen herself.

Speaking ahead of her Strictly Come Dancing debut, the American television star revealed how even RuPaul refers to her as a drag queen.

“People come up to me and say they thought I was a drag queen and I go, ‘Oh thank you,'” she said.

“I’m not, obviously. Ru calls me a drag queen, I call myself one.

“Drag really knows no gender. It’s an honour. It’s an honest mistake too.

“For me, it’s the highest compliment.”

Between the long days of rehearsals and the stress of the public vote, being on Strictly Come Dancing can be very demanding for its stars.

But the formidable force that is Visage also revealed her inspiration for getting her through it all – Debbie McGee.

The former Strictly runner-up and English television host is one of Visage’s favourite Strictly Come Dancing alum.

“Forces like Debbie McGee just drive you through,” Miranda said.

“She’s amazing. If she can do it I can do it. I haven’t met her yet but I’m looking forward to.

“I adore her. She’s my inspiration. I want to tell her how great she is.”

Moreover, Visage said that her children weren’t exactly pumped to see their mother on the silver screen.

“My kids were mortified thinking about their mother in those dresses with her legs out and shaking her bon-bon. They’re supportive.

“My husband [David Case] is my number-one fan.”
The judge, actor and former Seduction singer has long been rumoured to appear on the series.

“Getting to do Strictly in my favourite place on Earth is an actual dream,” she said.

“I’m so excited to show that being 50 doesn’t mean life stops. Things may not work like they did when I was 20, but 50 also means fabulous.

“There are plenty of women like me out there who still got it and we still plan to use it, so slap on the sequins, point me to the dance floor and watch me Paso my Doble”
