Finding money to donate to political campaigns isn’t always easy, but that didn’t stop Zachary, a gay man from Ohio.

He is just 19-years-old, works at a Circle K, and lives pay check to pay check – but he really wanted to make a donation to the campaign of Democratic candidate Elizabeth Warren. He was only able to afford to donate $3, so was a little shocked when the candidate herself called him to say thanks.

The heartwarming call was shared on Warren’s Twitter page. When Zachary answers the phone, he simply says: “You’ve gotta be kidding me.”

Zachary said Elizabeth Warren is ‘something to believe in’.

“Oh my God, oh my God, this is so awesome,” Zachary can be heard saying in the viral video. He then asks Warren to “hold on one sec” so he can get his boyfriend to bear witness to the incredible moment.

Warren tells his boyfriend Alex: “I’m calling my friend Zachary here to thank him for contributing to my campaign.”

Zachary said he is “more than happy” to have donated, and continues: “I don’t have much money. I’m 19, I work paycheck to paycheck, but I thought it was something to believe in.”

I’m calling my friend Zachary here to thank him for contributing to my campaign.

“I know,” Warren replies. “We’re gonna do this together.”

Warren then directly addresses Zachary’s boyfriend Alex and tells him he’s got “a good guy”.

Warren is just one of the candidates who are seeking the Democratic nomination for the 2020 presidential race.

Warren named the 18 black trans women murdered in the US so far this year during a recent appearance

She has spoken out in favour of trans rights on a number of occasions during her campaign so far. Just last week, Warren read out the names of the 18 black trans women murdered so far this year in the United States at the LGBT Forum.

Warren was asked by a journalist at the forum what LGBT+ Americans should expect from her first 100 days in office if she was elected.

She replied: “I’m not going to tell you, I’m going to show you.”

Shaking, she read out: “Dana Martin. Jazzaline Ware. Ashanti Carmon. Claire Legato. Muhlaysia Booker. Michelle Tamika Washington. Paris Cameron. Chynal Lindsey. Chanel Scurlock. Zoe Spears. Brooklyn Lindsey. Denali Berries Stuckey. Kiki Fantroy. Pebbles LaDime Doe. Tracy Single. Bailey Reeves. Bee Love Slater. Ja’leyah-Jamar.

“18 trans women of colour who have been killed so far this year. It is time for a President of the United States of America to say their names.”
