Lil Nas X says he’s ‘somewhat’ in a relationship

Lil Nas X relationship

Lil Nas X has revealed that he is “somewhat” in a relationship after coming out to the world in June, in an interview on The Ellen Show.

The artist came out in a series of not-so-cryptic tweets on World Pride Day, June 30, but has not yet spoken about a relationship.

Ellen DeGeneres said to the 20-year-old: “Your career is amazing… you had the first, history-making number one for 19 weeks in a row. You won two VMA awards and then you decide to come out.

“I can’t tell you how much I admire you because most people, as you know, are fearful of that because they think it’s going to affect their career.

“And here you are, at the height of your brand-new career, brand new! And you decide to come out.”

DeGeneres asked him what inspired him to come out at the time that he did, and the Panini singer replied: “Just knowing that it was something I should have done… in the past year I’m in a new level, so it doesn’t really matter.

“Also just how it would be good for the young’uns who are listening to me right now, who are going to have to go through things like this in the future, to know it’s alright, I guess.”

DeGeneres then asked: “Are you in a relationship right now?” To which he replied: “Somewhat.”

She explained her question by saying: “Because you’re extremely good-looking.”

Lil Nas X said: “Thank you, you are too, Ellen.”

“Thank you, Lil,” said DeGeneres, “And yet, we’re not right for each other.”

Lil Nas X had to explain homophobia to Kevin Hart this month.

The artist behind Old Town Road has suffered some backlash since coming out, and this month Kevin Hart was accused of gaslighting Lil Nas X after he questioned why a black man might find it difficult to come out as gay.

Hart repeatedly interrupted Lil Nax X during a conversation about his sexuality on HBO’s The Shop: Uninterrupted.

However, Lil Nas X graciously later told Hoodrich Radio: “No, I’m not mad at Kevin Hart. A lot of situations are like that, I don’t try and get into these situations because online I’m just here to be funny and laugh.”
