Rapper CupcakKe says she’s quitting music in emotional video sparking fears for her safety among fans

Rapper CupcakKe, a long-standing ally of the LGBT+ community, has announced in a tearful Instagram live video that she is retiring from the music industry.

The artist revealed she would be canceling the tour she just started, as well as deleting her social media accounts and removing her music from streaming services because she thinks she is “corrupting” children.

In the video posted on Sunday, September 22, CupcakKe, who seemed disorientated and upset, said: “All of my music will be coming off of every platform.

“I decided to let go of music because I feel as though I’m corrupting the youth. When I made those songs I was 16, 17 and honestly, I couldn’t really give two shits, you know?

“But I saw a video and it was of a 13-year-old dancing to the music and I just decided that’s it. I don’t wanna do music no more… I just want out of the music industry.”

Fans responded to the video and posted on social media expressing concern for the rapper’s mental health.

The day before the Instagram live, the creator of tracks like ‘LGBT’ and ‘crayons’ wrote a bizarre series of tweets in which she called Shawn Mendes gay and Camila Cabello racist.

But in the video, she said: “Recently the past night, and today, I’ve just been sporadic and it’s because I wanted to get as much attention as possible to let y’all know that I will no longer be doing music… I just did it to let you know I’m through, you will no longer see me nowhere.”

She also revealed that she had “gained a very bad gambling addiction” and had lost $700,000 in a casino in September last year. She said that losing the money showed her she was “very much at peace without it”.

She added: “I want to go to heaven after this, you know, I don’t want to go to hell.”

In January year, CupcakKe was reportedly hospitalised after tweeting “I’m about to commit suicide.”
