Jackson Rickun spent an entire year scaring his best friend and turned it into a video that has Twitter in tears.

The gay actor, of West Hollywood, California, dropped the video for his fellow actor and friend, Nick Lehmann, on 13 September.

Around six million people have tuned into the video that sees Lehmann hilariously jump in terror mid-collecting his newspaper, carrying a basket of laundry and walking through the door.

Jackson Rickun tweeted: “For the past year, I’ve been filming myself scaring my best friend @NickStopTalking.

“Today is Nick’s birthday and I’ve put all the clips together!”

The clip tallied more than 200,000 likes and 48,000 retweets.

“I jump when someone sneezes,” Lehmann replied. “This is the best birthday present in the world.”

The adorable video united the internet in admiration, not only for how funny it is, but for the lengths Jackson Rickun took just to wish his pal a happy birthday.

“This is the only video I’ve ever seen that’s actually worth un-muting,” one user said.

“This is what true friendship looks like” another user tweeted.

Even Ellen DeGeneres chimed in, comparing Lehmann leaping in fright to The Ellen Show executive producer, Andy Lassner.

But the real takeaway from the video? “Wish I had someone who put this much effort into me, haha” summarised a user.
