Embattled Emmerdale star Asan N’Jie sent tweets using anti-gay slurs, it has been revealed.

The Sun unearthed anti-gay messages from the actor, who joined the soap in 2018 as Ellis Chapman.

In one tweet, he wrote: “I’ve got a missed call from him, give me a text when you’ve been sun beds…. You pussy puffs.”

In another message, he referred to Coronation Street character Gail Platt as a “slag”.

The actor also retweeted a message from a friend who said of their mother: “Bitch is going to get a slap if she carries on with the sarcasm.”

The messages were sent in 2012, when N’Jie was aged 18.

Emmerdale star sacked over brawl at TV Choice Awards.

ITV declined to comment on the tweets as it has already parted company with the actor, who was sacked from Emmerdale after a fight with Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas at the TV Choice Awards on Monday, September 9.

It was alleged that N’jie, 25, had to be separated from Lomas after a brawl in which he threatened to “knife” the rival soap star.

A statement from ITV on Wednesday, September 11, said: “Emmerdale suspended Asan N’Jie yesterday pending further investigation into an incident at a central London hotel on Monday night.

“ITV executives have met with him this morning and as a consequence Asan’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect.”

N’jie said: “My behaviour at the TV Choice Awards was completely unacceptable and very much out of character.

“I sincerely apologise to everybody who has been affected especially Jamie Lomas, the whole Emmerdale team, our audience, ITV, my family, and the organisers of the TV Choice Awards.

“I am devastated, accept full responsibility for my actions and I am determined to learn from this.”

Soap sacked another actor for using anti-gay slurs.

His sacking comes five months after another Emmerdale star was sacked for using racist and anti-gay slurs.

Shila Iqbal, who played Aiesha Richards, had posted the n-word and written: “Do not tweet me you gay.”

The actress apologised for her comments, but said: “I’m being branded as a homophobe and a racist and that’s very, very far from who I am as a person.

“That’s difficult to cope with… It was easy for them to let go of me and I suppose make an example of me.”
