Parents are complaining about Britain’s Got Talent auditions being held next to a gay sauna

Britain's Got Talent auditions are being held next to a gay sauna

Britain’s Got Talent is facing a local backlash for hosting an open audition at a pub located next to a gay sauna.

Some parents of aspiring singers complained to the Hull Daily Mail after the ITV talent show announced that auditions would take place at Oak Vaults, which is one door down from the men-only Gentry Hull gay sauna.

Although the sauna is only open to over-18s, residents are apparently worried that its very existence in proximity to the event would somehow negatively influence their children.

One resident complained: “I have children, and friends who have children, who want to go to this and it’s disgusting that the location has been chosen as this pub.

“They wanted to go but I put a stop to it because now we have figured out where it is because of the venue.

“Some people may think that I am over-thinking it, but it’s not appropriate to host something that children might want to attend, but that’s just attached to a male sauna where people are having sex.

“It’s just completely wrong and I don’t think it’s right for kids to be near all of that.”

Britain’s Got Talent pub has no connection to sauna

The Oak Vaults pub insisted that it has no links to the sauna.

A spokesperson told the newspaper: “We are staggered to the ninth degree someone could be so petty to say this and that has probably come from our competitors.

“Britain’s Got Talent are aware of what is next door. Everyone in their right mind knows that they are not connected.

“They are completely separate entities. Here, it runs as a pub and the two just don’t mix.”

They added: “We are a music pub through and through and want the event to show how well people can blossom as well.

“This is designed more for people who are more at home to a working a pub scene and get up and perform.

“We doubt there are going to be kids attending, but if they do, then they must be accompanied by someone over 18.”

Britain’s Got Talent is open of people of any age, but its terms stipulate: “If you are under 18 years of age and you are invited to audition, you must be accompanied by your parents or legal guardians at the audition.

“Proof of age will be required at the auditions.”
