Fox News pundit Erick Erickson rages at ‘practising homosexual’ Pete Buttigieg

Former Fox News pundit Erick Erickson

Former Fox News pundit Erick Erickson has lashed out at Democratic Presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg for not “repenting” his sexuality.

Erickson, who hosts a right-wing radio show, took aim at Buttigieg on his blog, The Resurgent.

In the blog, he claimed that Donald Trump “has more humility” than the South Bend mayor, highlighting his sexuality.

Erick Erickson hits out at Pete Buttigieg over failure to ‘repent’

Erickson wrote: “President Trump has said more than once he has never felt the need to repent for anything… [but] Pete Buttigieg is a practising homosexual who wilfully refuses to recognise Holy Scripture identifies that as a sin.

“He will not repent either. There is a big difference, however, between these two unrepentant sinners.

“Donald Trump does not lecture Christians about their faith and Buttigieg has made it a central part of his campaign.

“So yes, in that regard, President Trump has more humility than Buttigieg.”

The Daily Beast notes that Erickson appears to have a fixation with Buttigieg, penning six blog posts about him since April.

In previous blogs, he claimed that Buttigieg “is actually really intolerant and would be okay with using the government to persecute Christians.”

He wrote: “No sin is immutable. Buttigieg has decided his sin is and, in trying to reconcile his faith to his sexuality, has departed from orthodoxy in determining his sin is therefore not sin despite the very plain and clear teachings of scripture.”

Anti-LGBT Republicans have targeted the gay Democrat

It is not the first time Buttigieg has faced homophobic smears from the right since announcing his Presidential bid.

Evangelical preacher Franklin Graham, a close ally of Donald Trump and Mike Pence on the religious right, also warned Buttigieg he will face “eternal damnation” unless he “repents” his sexuality.

Graham, who preached at President Donald Trump’s inauguration in January 2017, had claimed: “God’s Word defines homosexuality as sin, something to be repentant of, not something to be flaunted, praised, or politicised.

“The Bible defines marriage as between a man and a woman—not two men, not two women.

“The core of the Christian faith is believing and following Jesus Christ, who God sent to be the Savior of the world—to save us from sin, to save us from hell, to save us from eternal damnation.”
