Laverne Cox, Billy Porter and Hannah Gadsby are up for Emmy Awards

Pose star Billy Porter, Randy Rainbow, Queer Eye and Gay of Thrones are leading a landslide of LGBT+ talent nominated for Emmy Awards.

The Emmy nominations were announced on Tuesday (July 16), with a cornucopia of visible LGBT+ stars up for awards.

Pose, Queer Eye, Killing Eve among LGBT+ shows up for Emmy Awards

Acclaimed FX ballroom series Pose is up for six awards including Outstanding Drama Series, with actor and fashion sensation Billy Porter nominated for Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

Transgender Orange is the New Black star Laverne Cox is also nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series.

If successful, Cox would be the first trans person to win a Primetime Emmy Award in an acting category.

Queer Eye has landed six nominations, including Outstanding Structured Reality Programme.

Fab Five member Jonathan Van Ness also has a nomination of his own for comedy web series Gay of Thrones, facing comedy star Randy Rainbow’s musical YouTube show and Billy Eichner’s Billy On The Street.

Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh are both nominated for Lead Actress in a Drama Series for their role in cult lesbian thriller Killing Eve, which has landed nine total nominations including a nod for Outstanding Drama Series.

Hannah Gadsby, Ellen DeGeneres, RuPaul among queer stars up for awards

Nanette comic Hannah Gadsby is also up for two awards including Outstanding Variety Special.

Elsewhere, Fleabag guest star Kristin Scott Thomas is nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, for her role as middle-aged lesbian Belinda, facing off against Jane Lynch for her role in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

A Very English Scandal star Hugh Grant is nominated for Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie, while his co-star Ben Whishaw is nominated for supporting actor.

Meanwhile, Ellen DeGeneres will face off against RuPaul in the Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition category, for their roles in Ellen’s Game of Games and RuPaul’s Drag Race.

RuPaul’s Drag Race is nominated for a total of nine awards, including Outstanding Reality Competition Series, while companion show RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked has three nominations.

The Will & Grace revival landed three nominations.

Saturday Night Live‘s Kate McKinnon is also up for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
