Gay couple create diamond wedding ring from Burger King whopper
A new advert shows how a gay couple turned a Burger King whopper into a diamond to create a wedding ring.
Dima and Alvar are a couple are from an unnamed country in eastern Europe which does not legally recognise same-sex marriage.
According to the men, they are unable to hold hands in public there without facing discrimination.
Paid for by Burger King, the couple were flown to Germany to get married.
For being a part of the campaign, they were given a diamond for a ring created by grilling a burger until it was ash – and then transforming the carbon into a synthetic diamond.

The pair married at a town hall in Germany and exchanged rings with the Whopper diamonds in them.
They described it as a “dream come true” to be able to celebrate their wedding.
Klaus Schmäing, director of marketing in Burger King Germany, said: “Guests can choose their Whopper in any country, and together with Dima and Alvar, we want to show that everyone should have the freedom to make their own decisions, especially in love.”
Various companies are showing their support for Pride in different ways, but some have received a mixed reaction from the LGBT community.
Earlier this year, Marks and Spencer announced it would launch an “LGBT sandwich”.
The supermarket released the BLT-plus-guacamole sandwich to raise money for the Albert Kennedy Trust, a charity dedicated to helping homeless LGBT+ youth.
But despite the supermarket’s charitable intentions, some social media users criticised the exploitation of Pride for commercial gain.
