The city of Boston has approved an application for a “straight pride” parade with the same route as the official Pride parade, and it is set to take place on August 31 at 3pm.

“Straight pride” was organised by Super Happy Fun America, a group whose website claims that straight people are “America’s most brutally repressed identity.”

According to Boston.com, although organisers have received permission to hold the event from the city, they still need approval from police and the licensing board.

President of the group John Hugo said at a news conference: “I agree it is unusual to have something like this, but a lot of things seem unpopular at first but then they become mainstream.”
“We don’t hate anyone, we just want to have our own celebration just like everybody else has a right to. All people from all communities are welcome as long as they show respect.”
On the groups website, Hugo is described as having “years of experience working in politics while living openly as a straight man.”

Mayor of Boston Marty Walsh previously said on Twitter: “Permits to host a public event are granted based on operational feasibility, not based on values or endorsements of belief.”However, the mayor has also said that he will not be attending the “straight pride” parade.

“Straight pride” grand marshal Milo Yiannopoulos was banned from Facebook and Twitter for hate speech

The grand marshal of the parade will be former Breitbart News editor Milo Yiannopoulos who has been banned from both Facebook and Twitter for hate speech, including allegedly encouraging racist abuse.

The openly gay Trump supporter was even dropped from a Republican conference after allegedly defending men who have sex with underage boys, and on another occasion said he would “cure” himself of being gay if he could.
