The nominations are in for the Community Group of the Year award at the PinkNews Awards 2019.

The Community Group prize seeks to honour a charitable or non-profit organisation for their work to better the lives of LGBT+ people in their community.

Last year, the award was won by Cara-Friend and The Rainbow Project, two groups that have worked to support the LGBT+ community in Northern Ireland and continuing the fight to legalise same-sex marriage there.

Fittingly, then, the nominees for Community Group of the Year 2019 were announced at PinkNews’ summer reception at Stormont in Belfast on Thursday (June 20). The Alliance Party’s John Blair—Northern Ireland’s first openly gay MLA—made the announcement.

The winner will be announced at the seventh annual PinkNews Awards in London on October 16.

The full list of nominees for Community Group of the Year are:

  • Intercom Trust
  • Schools Out UK
  • LGBT Arabic
  • LGBT Foundation
  • Metro Charity

The PinkNews Awards 2019 is supported by Amazon.
