Brazilian minister claims Elsa from Frozen turns children gay

A Brazilian minister is being mocked online after she said that Elsa from Frozen turns children gay.
The country’s Human Rights Minister Damares Alves said in a video that has since gone viral: “You know why she only ends up alone in an ice castle, because she is a lesbian!” According to RT.com.
In the video, which was recorded at a Defence of the Family lecture in Divinópolis, the minister laments that she once waited for her “prince,” but that Disney is now teaching young girls to wait for their princess charming instead.
The minister suggested that Elsa will awaken Sleeping Beauty with a kiss in the Frozen sequel
In one particularly bizarre section of her speech, the minister suggested that Elsa will wake Sleeping Beauty from her slumber by giving her a kiss. Many fans of the modern animated classic have latched onto the idea in online comments.
One Twitter user shared an animated drawing of Elsa kissing Aurora from Sleeping Beauty along with a photo of the minister with a shocked expression and said: “Damares Alves watching Frozen 2.”
Another tweeted Disney directly and suggested they make Aurora Elsa’s girlfriend, and thanked Alves for making the suggestion.

Somebody else reprimanded the minister for giving a “spoiler” for Frozen 2 by saying that Elsa was a lesbian and would end up with Aurora.

Others did not see the funny side. One Twitter user said: “Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this is Brazil’s minister of human rights and family, Damares Alves, who says that Frozen’s Queen Elsa lives alone in an ice castle because she’s a lesbian and she comes back to wake up sleeping beauty with a “gay kiss.” You can’t make this stuff up.”
Another said that the minister’s speech was “homophobia” and said it was “spreading prejudice against people who already face all kinds of stigma and prejudice.”
Many Frozen fans are convinced that Elsa is a lesbian
When Disney released the first trailer for Frozen 2 in February, many LGBT+ fans were convinced that the character would finally have her big coming out moment.
LGBT+ Frozen enthusiasts have long held the opinion that Elsa is a lesbian, and the new trailer did nothing to convince them otherwise.
Many Frozen fans have tweeted that Elsa’s clothing choices in the trailer prove her queer sexuality.
One said: “I want to make elsa’s lesbian pantsuit overcoat outfit,” while another commented: “Elsa’s outfit in Frozen 2 screams LESBIAN and that’s on that. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.”
A different user wrote: “elsa’s new outfit… a lesbian icon, truly.”
