UK’s Eurovision entry Michael Rice ‘does the UK proud’ with Grand Final performance

His rendition of ‘Bigger Than Us’ impressed crowds both in Tel Aviv and at home.

All Together Now winner and former The X Factor contestant Michael Rice delivered a confident performance during the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv.

Performing 16th on the night, Rice managed to impress audiences with the show-stopping routine.

One person tweeted to say “well, that wasn’t at all awful. Well done, Michael Rice!”

“First time I heard the song it sounded average but tonight at the final it was utterly brilliant,” another Twitter user said.

“Well bloody done to Michael Rice, done the UK proud!”

Posting on Twitter, Rice said: “Thank you for all the amazing messages and support!!! Don’t forget to vote for the UK.”

He added that winning would “mean the world to me”.

Rice’s track ‘Bigger Than Us’ was co-written by John Lundvik, who also represented Sweden during the final.

Speaking ahead of the grand final, the 21-year-old told PinkNews the track “covers different areas of like, being who you are, whether your race, your gender or your sexuality.”

The 64th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest featured a lookalike host in the form of Erez Tal while France’s Bilal Hassani delivered a powerful performance of self-confidence.
