Eagle-eyed Eurovision fans have noticed that one of the hosts of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest looks familiar.

The Tel Aviv event launched with a spectacular opening number featuring some of Israel’s finest representatives from Eurovision past, including Dana International, Nadav Guedj, and last year’s winner Netta.

The number saw Netta landing a plane featuring all of the 2019 performers, giving a unique twist on the usual flag-waving opening parade.

But, it’s the appearance of one of this year’s hosts has captured the attention of viewers. As Erez Tal, Assi Azar, Bar Refaeli, and Lucy Ayoub were introduced to viewers, Norton couldn’t help but bring out that sharp wit that British viewers have come to enjoy.

Commenting on Erez Tal, who was also one of the Israeli commentators for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 grand final, Norton said that he looked like “perhaps a Jeff Goldblum who’s made bad decisions.”

It wasn’t just Norton who noticed, either. Fans took to social media to share their thoughts on the lookalike host.

The BBC Eurovision account compared Tal to an Israeli Jeff Goldberg with ‘expensive gynaecologist energy’, while others compared him to a discount version of the Hollywood star.

It wasn’t just Tel who got compared to other famous faces. One user tweeted: “Tonight is being hosted by Poundland Keira Knightley, Poundland Jennifer Lawrence, Poundland Jeff Goldblum and…an Abercrombie model I guess?”

The 64th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest will feature more famous faces as Madonna will be performing a medley of new and classic hits.

Fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier also appeared in a brief and bizarre segment before Denmark’s performance.
