Meghan McCain’s husband Ben Domenech has apologised for writing a series of offensive tweets against late night host Seth Meyers, who interviewed his wife on his show on Tuesday (May 7).
Domenech was enraged at the way Meyers questioned McCain on recent statements she made on The View about congresswoman Ilhan Omar, whom she linked to a rise in anti-semitic rhetoric while discussing the recent synagogue shooting in California.
The exchange got heated as McCain asked Meyers if he worked as Omar’s publicist, and he suggested that those asking the congresswoman to be careful about her language should be demanding the same of everyone else—themselves included.

Domenech, founder of the conservative website The Federalist, angrily reacted at the exchange and suggested Meyers only got his job in exchange for sexual favours with Lorne Michaels, the creator of Saturday Night Live and the Late Night series.
“I see that @sethmeyers, the untalented piece of s**t who only has his job because he regularly gargled Lorne Michaels’ balls, went after my wife tonight with his idiotic anti-Semitic bulls**t,” he wrote in since-deleted tweets quoted in The Daily Beast.
He continued: “Seth is an awful person who is known within the industry for how terrible he is. He is a monumental a**hole who is utterly unfunny. He deserves the mockery he receives from all the people who laugh at him.”
“Here is proof that white men get ahead despite their obvious lack of talent. It’s @sethmeyers, who would beg for a third of the viewers at @TheView. He’s awful, untalented, and a perfect definition of a cuck,” Domenech wrote in a third tweet.
The word “cuck,” as a 2016 article in GQ titled “Why Angry White Men Love Calling People ‘Cucks'” noted, is an insult generally used in alt right spaces to call a man weak, effeminate or emasculated.
Domenech added a fourth and final tweet to his rant: “But the best thing is how much all the people around @sethmeyers talk about what a shitty person he is. Because oh, it is sad. So terrible. But he deserves all of it.”
Domenech reiterated his view on Meyers when approached by Mediaite for comment. He wrote: “Seth Meyers is trash. I believe this steadfastly and have for years. He only has his job because of sucking up to the right people. He is an untalented hack. My reference was obviously metaphorical and that’s it.”

“I apologize for rage tweeting about how Seth Meyers treated her.”
— Ben Domenech
His remarks come less than two months after he ended a collaboration with The Federalist columnist Denise McAllister after she wrote a series of tweets calling gay journalist Yashar Ali someone who “wallows and tries to find himself in another man’s a**hole.”
Domenech finally apologised via Twitter on Wednesday (May 8), claiming he acted out of love for his wife.
He wrote: “I love my wife. I apologize for rage tweeting about how Seth Meyers treated her. I don’t like him, I think he’s a hack, but I shouldn’t have done that. I’m sorry to anyone I offended.”
