Queer Eye star Jonathan Van Ness has confirmed he is bringing back Gay of Thrones for a final season.

The TV star announced the revival of his Game of Thrones recap show, which he has filmed for Funny or Die since 2013.

The series features Van Ness cutting the hair of a special guest while gossiping, somewhat inaccurately, about the plot of that week’s episode of Game of Thrones.

Van Ness has become an internationally-recognised star since the last season aired, thanks to Queer Eye, and fans had speculated about whether the show would make a return.

However, in an Instagram post Van Ness confirmed Gay of Thrones would be returning next Tuesday (April 16), two days after the return of Game of Thrones itself.

He wrote: “The suspense is over henny!! ️‍ Gay Of Thrones is back for our final season next Tuesday.”

In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, producer Erin Gibson said: “I am very excited to blow out this last season of Gay of Thrones with the panache and fierceness that only Jonathan can bring to the screen.”

No guests for the upcoming series have been announced, but given it marks the end of Game of Thrones, some major cameos would not be surprising.

A trailer for the show on YouTube has fans shook.

One wrote: “YAAAS DRAGON QUEEN GOING BACK TO YOUR ROOTS. WE STAN.”

Another added: “I may be more excited for Gay of Thrones than for Game of Thrones. I regret nothing.”

The Funny or Die series has previously featured a cameo appearance from Game of Thrones creator George RR Martin, as well as appearances by Game of Thrones actors Alfie Allen and Esmé Bianco.

Jonathan Van Ness has a lot of projects on the go

Van Ness has certainly been busy of late.

In between filming for Queer Eye seasons, he has made his Broadway debut for a performance of Celebrity Autobiography, continued podcast Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness, trained as a figure skater, launched a stand-up comedy tour, and campaigned for LGBT+ equality.

Last week, Queer Eye stars Antoni Porowski, Tan France, Bobby Berk and Jonathan Van Ness met with lawmakers including Democratic congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi in a visit to DC.

The TV stars were there to lobby for the Equality Act, a LGBT+ non-discrimination bill that would extend existing civil rights laws to also cover sexual orientation and gender identity.
