A queer couple has gone viral after they posted a video about their surprise engagement.

Leo Rogers, 22, posted on Twitter explaining how their partner Ruth Wilkins, 23, surprised them by proposing as they had dinner with friends at the Slug & Lettuce in Swansea, Wales.

Rogers, who identifies as non-binary trans masculine, had been planning to propose to Wilkins on her birthday at the restaurant—but their girlfriend got there first.

“So I threw my girlfriend a surprise birthday meal tonight and she surprised me right back by proposing to me…” wrote Rogers in the caption for the video, which was uploaded on April 4.

Speaking to PinkNews, Rogers explained that they met Wilkins at a Dodie concert in 2017 and have been together ever since.

“The proposal was a double surprise!” explained Rogers.

“She had been planning to propose since February but was waiting for the right time, and I’d suggested going out to dinner at a local restaurant for her birthday.

“I was secretly planning it to be a surprise with around 20 of her friends and unknown to me she was planning to propose on the night!

“She was completely surprised and after we’d had dessert she pulled out the ring and got down on one knee!”
