Rocketman co-stars Taron Egerton and Richard Madden rocked out to Elton John in an upcoming episode of Carpool Karaoke: The Series.

A teaser clip of the episode, due to be released on Friday, first aired during The Late Late Show with James Corden on Monday (March 18), which featured Egerton as one of its guests.

“We went out the night before and got blind drunk,” the actor revealed, discussing the clip.

He quickly added: “Don’t worry, I sobered up before I drove.”

In the teaser video, Egerton can be seen bickering at Madden for suggesting to wear an extravagant Elton John-like costume for Carpool Karaoke.

“Why is it that you always get to look cool, smooth and winning and handsome leading man and I look like a big multicoloured chicken?” Egerton protests, deciding to opt for a costume change.

Madden tries to lighten up the mood, replying: “A handsome chicken.”

The two then rock out to Elton John’s hit “Bennie and the Jets,” which also features in Rocketman‘s trailer.

The film, which will be released in cinemas worldwide at the end of May, explores Elton John’s life, from his time as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music to global stardom.

Taron Egerton and Richard Madden filmed sex scene for Rocketman

Egerton plays the international superstar in the film, while Madden plays the role of John Reid, the Elton John’s longtime manager and lover for a period of five years.

Naturally, Egerton and Madden have had to shoot some intimate scenes in the film, as the Welsh actor told MTV in November.

“I really threw myself into it, I filmed my first sex scene for this film and it’s with quite a well known man,” Egerton said, without explicitly mentioning Madden.

Unlike other recent films about music icons that toned down the main character’s sexualityRocketman promises to be explicit in its portrayal of Elton John’s love affairs.

“I do feel the movie we shot is absolutely a celebration of everything that Elton John is and part of that is his sexuality,” Egerton said.

He continued: “I actually think the gay community will be quite surprised by quite how gay it feels. I’ve loved every second of it.

“I’m not someone who is remotely perturbed by male intimacy and I am quite proud of what we’ve done with it. We really went some places with it.”
