Lily James marries Alicia Vikander in Four Weddings and a Funeral sequel

Viewers loved the mini-sequel to Four Weddings and a Funeral.

The sequel to iconic 90s rom-com Four Weddings and a Funeral featured a same-sex couple twist, with Lily James and Alicia Vikander marrying.

The mini-sequel, titled One Red Nose Day and a Wedding, aired on BBC on Friday (March 15) as part of charity Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day fundraising efforts.

The cast of the original film reunited 25 years later for the wedding of Carrie (Andie MacDowell) and Charles (Hugh Grant)’s daughter, played by Lily James, to the daughter of Fiona (Dame Kristen Scott Thomas), played by Alicia Vikander.

Presiding over the ceremony is none other than Father Gerald (Rowan Atkinson), who awkwardly ensures that the wedding ritual is inclusive of same-sex couples.

Several memorable moments from Four Weddings and a Funeral were referenced in the mini-sequel, including a nod to the character Scarlett, played by Charlotte Coleman, who died in 2001.

According to the BBC, by the end of the broadcast more than £63m had been raised towards the charity, which fights poverty around the world.
