Shura returns with new track inspired by lesbian desire
English singer-songwriter Shura has returned with her first solo track in more than two years—a seductive electropop tune inspired by relationship with her girlfriend.
The 27-year-old musician released new song “BKLYNLDN” on Sunday (March 10), including a video of two women tenderly kissing one another.
The singer, who released her debut album Nothing’s Real in July 2016, said that the song explores “having both a sonic & lyrical evolution,” reports DIY Mag.
She added: “It’s about desire—playing with the idea of it being all consuming and at times overwhelming.

“It starts with the immediacy of physical desire—‘this isn’t love’ and yet as the song unfolds that sentiment begins to unravel; I am clearly in love and instead of my girlfriend coming to London, I end up moving Brooklyn.

Shura also announced details for two upcoming shows in Brooklyn and London in October and November respectively.
The rising star has been teasing new music on her social media channels in recent weeks.
Shura, who was brought up in Manchester, recently featured on British electronic musician Tourist’s new track “Love Theme.”

The Guardian‘s deputy music editor Laura Snapes posted on Twitter: “The new @weareshura single is a dream.”
“This is beautiful and seductive,” wrote one person.
