Channel 4’s rebooted Shipwrecked is set to return for the first time since 2012. But who are the LGBT+ contestants?

Nine castaways will head to two islands in the South Pacific and be split into two tribes, the Sharks and Tigers, to battle out for a £50,000 cash prize.

The cast announced so far includes at least three openly gay contestants, Chris Jammer, Kush Khanna and Casey.

PinkNews understands that up to two more LGBT+ contestants will join the line-up.

Other contestants on the revived show include model Harry Goodwins, part-time wig maker Tula Fazakerley and social media influencer Hollie Hobin.

“I hit it off with one guy. We are still seeing each other.”

Shipwrecked was a big hit for Channel 4 in the early 2000s, and was hailed as one of the first reality TV shows on British television.

The rebooted Shipwrecked will be hosted by Capital FM DJ and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Vick Hope.

The first season of Shipwrecked started on December 30, 1999, before the first series of Big Brother in 2000.

The 2019 Shipwrecked line-up also includes recent graduate Emma Fleming, Loughborough University third year Tom Wotton, model Kalia Lai and waitress Liv Jawando.

Shipwrecked originally ran for three series from December 1999 to December 2001.

It returned for a further four series from January 2006 to May 2009 in a new format called Shipwrecked: Battle of the Islands, and for another season known as Shipwrecked: The Island in 2011.

The 2019 show will use the Battle of the Islands format.

Who is Cambridge grad Chris Jammer?

Jammer, 24, from Burnt Oak in London, is the CEO of S&C Productions, the company that runs Strawberries and Creem festival in Cambridge.

The 24 year old, who has modelled at top events like London Fashion Week, graduated from Cambridge University with a 2:1 in Land Economy in 2016.

Jammer said he entered the show “completely” single, but appears to have found romance on the island.

“I wasn’t looking for a relationship because I had almost given up on the idea,” he said.

“But I hit it off with one guy. We are still seeing each other.”

Jammer said going on Shipwrecked helped him in his “grieving process” after his mother died four months earlier.

He has admitted to having an argument while on Shipwrecked with “one girl who ended up lying to us.”

Who is former boyband member Kush Khanna?

Kanna, 26, used to be in a boyband managed by Geri Halliwell and Simon Fuller when he was aged 17 to 21.

“It was the best time of my life. Going to Geri’s house every single day and rehearsing in her garage,” he explained.

“I’d like to hope she will support me on the show. She is a bag of fun.”

He has since become a recruiter manager, reportedly at InterTalent Rights Group.

Khanna described himself as the “director of fun” on the show, adding that he is “a bit quirky, different and crazy.”

He said he was “open to finding someone” on show, but admitted to being “very picky.”

Khanna marched at Pride in London in July.

“Marching through pride is one of the most overwhelming feelings,” he wrote on Instagram at the time.

“We need to remember it’s not just a massive piss up and it’s there to represent something important that people have fought for!”

Khanna is also a self-confessed clean freak.

“I’m quite OCD when it comes to cleanliness,” he said. “I like to cleanse my face, moisturise, sit there and be in clean bedding.”

Who is charity shop manager Casey?

Casey, 24, is a charity shop manager from Cheltenham. He entered Shipwrecked single, and has said that looking for love was not his reason for going on the show.

“This is my experience,” he said.

“I didn’t want my experience to be about somebody else and then we get out we might not see each other.”

The 24 year old said he thinks he got picked to go on the show because there are “many sides” to his personality.

“When I go out on a Saturday night, I’ll have make up on, tight jeans and a tight fitted shirt, but Monday morning when I get to work I’ll have baggy jeans on, unshaven and in a baggy jumper,” he explained.

Casey said that he got on well with Jammer on the show, who he described as “really down to earth,” as well as Liv, who he “really connected” with, despite the pair getting off to a bad start.
