Logan Paul apologises for ‘go gay for a month’ comments

The YouTuber faced criticism after suggesting that he was to “go gay for just one month.”

On Saturday (January 12), Logan Paul tried to calm down the response to his latest controversial video by suggesting the comments made on the latest episode of his Impaulsive Podcast were badly worded.

In response to GLAAD sharing PinkNews’ coverage of the original story on Twitter, in which the organisation tweeted: “That’s not how it works, @LoganPaul,” the YouTuber said: “Very poor choice of words… my fault.”

Paul also invited the LGBT+ organisation to join him on the next episode of his podcast. “Let’s get together and talk about it on my podcast next week?” he tweeted.

The tweet was Paul’s first public response to the backlash following the viral video. During the podcast, the YouTuber said one of his New Year’s resolutions would involve “male-only March,” an attempt “to go gay for just one month.”

People expressed anger at the video, suggesting that the idea that someone could choose to “go gay” was not only incorrect but also problematic for the LGBT+ community.

One user wrote: “And for all the people defending this and saying it’s just a joke – even if it is, it’s tone-deaf and not funny.”

Daniel Preda, the partner of YouTuber Joey Graceffa, tweeted: “Logan Paul joking about being gay “for one month” while countless LGBT+ around the world are killed & committing suicide for their sexuality, is disgusting.

“He continues to be an awful representation of the YouTube community & shows he truly has learned NOTHING over the last year.”

The social media star added that instead of “man-only March”, he could use his platform “as a voice for those LGBT+ who have no voice and resort to suicide and self-harm.”
